Going Bovine by Libba Bray:

EPIC STUFF.

So last time I told you it’s about this boy (Cameron) who gets Mad Cow Disease for humans (it’s called Creutzfeldt-Jakob) and he sees this girl who might just be a punky angel and she tells him that he needs to find Dr. X (so original I KNOW) in order to save himself but also the UNIVERSE!!! dramatic I KNOW.

So he takes his OCD and slightly neurotic dwarf friend Gonzo and goes on an adventure to save the world. It’s an epic read i must say. I mean seriously- if you think i should be reading War and Peace or The Count of Monte Cristo then MAYBE ONE DAY I WILL READ THEM. but let me just read YA fiction for now and enjoy my life. I still learn stuff. Also- I HATE being forced to read books. I read what I WANT TO READ WHEN I WANT TO READ. so deal with it.

so back to Going Bovine- so the book can be rather confuzzling because you don’t know what’s real and what’s not (kinda like Keats’ poetry)- it’s all about LIMINALITY (between two places) and so it’s awesome for your imagination.

Anyhew- i just didn’t want to stop reading this book. and i teared up a few times. and smiled and laughed a lot. in PUBLIC. but oh well- maybe it would make them curious and want to read the book. or not. but still- I love reading books in public because I’m advertising the book and i get a lot of reading done and when i look up and see someone looking at me I smile t myself because I’m so wrapped up int he book and the fictional world while they’re just bored or daydreaming or listening to music and I’m having this frickin adventure IN MY HEAD while they’re…not. Well, maybe they are if they have an incredible imagination.

Okay so back to the book- if you like Libba Bray- READ IT

if you love YA BOOKS- READ IT

if you love adventurous books with mad narrators and gnomes then READ IT

Basically- if you want to know WHY you should be lucky to be alive and why you SHOULD take risks and smile lots and take time to smell the roses (though in my opinion, roses don’t smell that great- I mean when we get flowers i inhale the essence fo rose and t’s like…nothing special. but then you get the aromatherapy roses and I’m like I DON’T SMELL THAT WHEN I SNIFF ROSES. maybe it’s just me…)- just read the book okay. =)

Onto What Happened to Goodbye:

so this is Sarah Dessen’s NEWEST book. It took me about two days to read because i just devoured it. I really have missed reading her awesome books. So in this one Mclean, named after some basketball coach or something frequently moves due to her dads job but she CHOSE to live with her dad instead of  her mum. It’s not that she doesn’t love her mum it’s just that what she DID (fall in love with someone else) kind of ruined her family so yeah.

But when she moves tot his new town she loves it- sticks to her birth name and makes friends. she also kind of falls in love with Dave who is a weird freaky genius. Who of course I fell in love with too.

Boys in Books are Just Better

This is true but  think perhaps when I do eventually fall in love with a real human who live in the real world then I will love him wholly and forget about all the fictional guys because he’d be BETTER than all of them. Is that so unrealistic and far-fetched?! Better than Peeta…?! We’ll see.

But then of course her dad get’s offered another job and has to move and so it’s inevitable that she has to move as well.

There’s some good times and bad times.

I didn’t know about American quilts. they sound AWESOME. I’m going to watch the film and will let you know what i think. but yeah- apparently Americans love to make quilts- memories. I love the baby clothes idea- that’s just incredible.

So I’m going to start reading The Iron King by Julie Kagawa- I’VE heard many good things about this book. Also now that the Wicked Lovely series by Melissa Marr is over and Tithe by Holly black i have missed faeries. =)

To not live in the US can be a good thing or a bad thing depending how you look at it. Sometime si especially hate not living there. Like the other day because there was this huge debate on the radio about YA and everyone was tweeting about it but I couldn’t listen to it. Until it was over and I went on the website. =D

So with me- I buy whatever books I want but I do talk to my mum about the plot or sometimes she reads the blurbs.

She knows that a lot of what i read is dark but she herself read many dark books when she as a child. I think the main thing for her is that she knows I’m reading and learning. =)

So yeah- YA fiction is getting dark but it;s a dark world. But there’s light and hope and love. People experience tough things like eating disorders, suicide, divorce, death, drugs, abuse etc and I think reading about experiences helps you to feel you’re not alone or to understand how someone might be feeling and what they might be going through.

Freaky Fact- I once bit a book in anger. It was Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. You can still see the bite mark. My friends still read it though. =P

So some TV stuff:

Chord Overstreet who plays Sam in Glee is not going to be a regular…I’m not so sad about that because Darren Chris (BLAINE) will be a regular on the show. YAYNESS. =D

Pretty Little Liars- OMG THAT WAS A BLATANT REFERENCE TO THE GREAT GATSBY- ‘someone is always watching you’ advertisement.also…I really think Hannah should be with Caleb.

The Nine Lives of Chloe King– I finally got the three book sin one. yay. But I’m loving Alec and Brian. and I think Chloe’s friends needed to hear that- it’s not easy finding out you have cat superpowers and people are trying to kill you.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager- i actually want to kill Ben. he is so annoying. and Adrianne is too desperate. i mean- i hate it when people pretend they are pregnant or actually get pregnant just to make people stay- that’s not LOVE- it’s DUTY. also…it could so totally backfire- like in GLEE. Amy and Ricky were kind of stupid for not realising John didn’t like them raising their voices and arguing.

Teen Wolf– saucy stuff. haha. but Scott is so cute- I love her…awwww. I’m sure sometime soon someone is going to discover he is a werewolf.

I’ve been obsessively Listening to Tourist History- Two Door Cinema Club’s album. it is just WOW.

Taylor Swift is releasing Sparks Fly as her summer song. yay. =)

Only recently did I discover the true awesomeness of Kings of Leon. sigh.

SO- There’s going to be a NEW COUNTRY with even more problems than the existing ones. South Sudan great- because we really need more segregation and war. Sigh.

I mean they fought for independence but their government spends 3 TIMES MORE ON THE MILITARY THAN ON EDUCATION AND HEALTH. Because we really don’t need to educate the people because education is NOT power and the health of the people isn’t important so it’s fine if they are sick and can’t work and have no food and whatever- the development of the country isn’t really important. as long as we have guns it’s all good.

Also- the drought in Northern Africa.

My geography teacher was saying how it’s not their fault because a lot of people have been forced to move to areas where there’s less rain due to tourism amongst other factors. They’re destroying the habitats of animals such as the Gorilla because they need wood to survive. There’s a drought and they’re starving because they’re been kicked out from where they once lived where drought wasn’t as common or severe.

Of course the UK has promised about £38billion of AID. but it’s not long-term is it?! there’s going to be MORE droughts what with global warming and everything so what then?! you think you can just give money and move on?! OF COURSE NOT.

I don’t know- you like to interfere when you want to *cough* Saddam Hussein…but when you don’t then you’re like nah- let them kill the nation, let them ‘govern’ the way they want to otherwise they’ll think we’re imposing on them…*cough* Robert Mugabe.

I hate politics partly because i don’t understand it and party because a lot of it is crap. it’s absolute Bull****. I mean governments are corrupt. there’s no JUSTICE.

The UN really really frustrate me. they are SUPPOSED TO HELP but all they do is say ‘humanitarian crisis’ OKAY SO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. if the UN consists of many EU countries then um…LOOK AT YOUR OWN COUNTRY WHERE THERE’S HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND DRUG TRAFFICKING…I mean…UN PEACEKEEPERS…yeah sure…just shoot innocent people while I stand there with my gun trying to ‘keep the peace’.

There’s NO SUCH THING AS ‘UNITED NATIONS’ everyone cares about themselves and you’d THINK THEY’D CARE ABOUT THEIR OWN COUNTRY but they don’t. they just want money. because money isn’t made from trees or gold or silver or TANGIBLE.

It  seems that I am very PESSIMISTIC AND CYNICAL and lack optimism. oh I have faith. I have faith that if MORE people cared and wanted to CHANGE the world for the better then we can SAVE THE WORLD. We only have one planet to live on. Earth. I suggest we act fast before you die and look back on your life and when God asks ‘what did you do?’ and you’re just like ‘umm…welll….’ yeah…it’s not going to be pretty so make someone smile, give to charity (and don’t brag about it), do a random act of kindness- appreciate the beauty of the world and pray for a better world.

So I went on another Tater course to the university of my DREAMS-SOAS- School of Oriental and African Studies

IT IS AMAZING!

It’s a very small university- only 5000 people BUT it’s part of University of London so i can use the facilities of LSE and UCL so it’s all good. Plus it has a very homely atmosphere and the library is massive and just full of BOOKS of course. and computers.

I can totally see myself there.

So we had three lectures. Anthropology wasn’t as captivating as I hoped and the history one was terribly boring but the art history was rather intriguing. it really does depend on the lecturer and their presentation.

To be honest, the LSE taster course was WAY better but I do love SOAS and it is still my first choice. I just need to get 3 As and have an exemplary personal statement.

So- 15th July is the day…I can’t say Harry Potter was with me from day one because I only read the book a few years ago but I did watch the films. It’s the end of an era but the start of a LEGEND. I am probably going to cry in the movie.  I’m going to MAKE my children read Harry Potter. No…I’ll read it to them and see if they like it then let them read it themselves. =P

Movies:

So I’ve been watching lots of movies- the latest being Don Juan DeMarco the greatest lover of all time.

I find this quite a funny movie- the character Lucy reminds me a lot of myself…

THEN WHAT?! I’m pretty crazy and have my fair share of issues but i guess he’ll have to love me ‘warts and all’ (I don’t have any warts just so you know!).

I’m such a bibliophage…

What is a bibliophage you ask? A fancy word for saying a bookworm. =P

I don’t like the term bookworm because it just makes me think of a worm in a book or something and that’s kinda dodgy.

So I’ve been obsessively buying and reading books…

I READ MEG CABOT’S ABANDON.

Awesome Cover- love the texture of the font!!!

Finally i read it and yes it is SO DIFFERENT from any of her other books…it got me interested in Greek Mythology and I’m glad it didn’t solely focus on the love story- that’s just kind of a bonus. =)

It’s the myth of Persephone and Hades except Persephone is Pierce (seventeen year old girl who had a near death experience when she was 15 except she DID DIE…she just came back to life…but is NOT A ZOMBIE) and Hades is John Hayden who is a death deity….they kinda work in the Underworld etc. it’s all very cool and yeah i guess it’s supernatural but hey it’s GOOD…it’s not like…oh mysterious boy and of new girl in town…oh wait…yeah it kinda is except she’s not a TOTAL IDIOT and he is not all like I AM SO GREAT. he’s funny and helloo….she THREW TEA IN HIS FACE. =P

An awesome quote from the book is:

She does escape the Underworld but the real world isn’t exactly safe when people are after her…or John…because they DON’T want him to be happy and Pierce (when she’s not throwing tea in his face or calling him a jerk) makes him happy. Cue cheesy grin…awwwww. 😉

All in all i really enjoyed the novel and YAY it’s a trilogy but DAMN i have to wait a while because of course she still has to write in and review it and sort covers and the whole writing and publishing process takes a while so hopefully sometime later next year it should be out…UNDERWORLD the sequel to  ABANDON.

Meg Cabot…it’s been too long since I’ve read one of her YA books but it think i shall read some of her adult books now. 😉

Firstly the cover…yeah it’s a giant egg…but it’s matte compared to the rest of the cover which is  GLOSSY so when you run your hands over the cover it’s all different textures!!!! then IT DOES GET BETTER MY FRIEND…once you take ot the jacket…THERE’S AN INDENT OF AN EGG…

Okay i’m over it for now so i can talk about the actual NOVEL. which was HILARIOUS!!!

THIS MEANS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO GETS THAT GOOFY GRIN when i see someone i like…teehee. 😉

The book is about this Virus which means that you can’t get pregnant over 18 so couples over 18 get teenagers to be surrogates etc it’s some crazy business and things can go wrong if you WANT to keep your baby…

Twins Melody and Harmony- DUH…things go wrong because Harmony comes from Goodside- raised by a Church so she only knows whatever they’ve told her…when she venture to Otherside to find her IDENTICAL SISTER Melody she has NO IDEA WHAT SHE’S GOTTEN HERSELF IN FOR. oh and she’s married.

Melody is waiting for her egg to be matched with the best sperm and that happens to be Jondoe- the famous guy and yes…stuff happens and it all goes wrong…but what REALLY annoyed me was how it ended. JUST LIKE THAT.

There’s me thinking ooohh i have a few more pages left and it’s getting really quite exciting and then BAM…it ends…and those last few pages are BLANK. oh…they are EVIL for doing that. sigh…now i have to wait patiently for the sequel…but i thoroughly enjoyed it because it was rather funny…like seriously laugh out loud funny…i mean ‘fertilicious’?! seriously?! Haha.

If you like Megan McCafferty or you’re interested in dystopian novels….or just a mix of futuristic and realistic fiction then you should read this. =)

Also…Religion is really important in this novel

I think this is really true because it’s NOT about the image or whether you APPEAR to be pious or ‘holy’ or whatever…we shouldn’t JUDGE people on whether they are religious or not because it’s not between you and the world…faith is between You and Your Creator…and God knows what’s in YOUR heart whereas other people can only see the OUTSIDE…and that’s not the most important thing. Yes it’s best to follow the rules and be modest etc but Remember God is EVERYWHERE not just in a Church, Mosque or Temple.

Next is…The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson

This book blew me away in the sense that the cover HAS SO MUCH TEXTURE and inside there are pages like this:

This is a common occurrence

The character Lennie frequently writes notes on scarps of paper or trees or walls…you could call it vandalism if it was in the girls bathroom of a cafe but it’s more of her writing to let go…

This book is insanely sad…but i didn’t cry. i was surprised that i didn’t cry because i usually cry in books (The Book Thief, Mockingjay to name a few)…but this book is HEARTBREAKINGLY SAD yet so so beautiful.

Lennie’s sister Bailey dies. Lennie finds it extremely difficult to cope and deal with the loss because although she mostly felt she was her sister’s shadow…she doesn’t know HOW to function without her…and then INCREDIBLE JOE comes along and woah…she falls in love.

An amazing quote from the book:

“But if you’re someone who knows the worst thing can happen at any time, aren’t you also someone who knows the best thing can happen at any time too?” Jandy Nelson

The worst thing is that Bailey died but the best thing is falling in love.

Although it’s incredibly sad, there are a few laugh out loud moments and moments were no matter how hard your heart is…you have to smile because it’s so sweet. I’m such a hopeless romantic.

This book is beautifully written and just wow. i loved it. =)

I’ve heard a lot about Libba Bray’s (Author of the Gemma Doyle Trilogy) Beauty Queens so i had to buy it on Amazon…sigh. i’ll let you know how that goes when i get it. YAYNESS. =D

‘yeah…I READ TOO MANY ROMANCE NOVELS that is why my husband forced me to make this appointment.’ and the therapist would be like ‘i see…and do you spend more time reading and fantasising about these romance novels then with your husband?’ and you’re all like ‘um…well i wouldn’t put it that way but hmmm…yes i suppose it would seem that way…that’s why i’m here…’ HAHAHA. 😉

Sad Times. Well i guess they DO give you an unrealistic perception of men and expectations are usually unfulfilled since i haven’t met a guy with a six pack and an amazing smile who can make me laugh. Okay so TV…

The Secret Life of the American Teenager: it just gets even more annoying, i don’t even know why i still watch it. i mean the worst characters have got to be Amy’s ‘friends’ Madison and Lauren…how are they representative of American teens i don’t know…and if they are i am staying FAR AWAY from them. Ben and Adrienne’s wedding…awww but i don’t think they should be getting married. oh well…too late now. Seriously…they know NOTHING about babies…i know more about babies and i’m not pregnant, getting pregnant anytime soon and none of my friends are pregnant…i mean…Adrianne wants to go back to school A WEEK AFTER GIVING BIRTH…yeah…very realistic. NOT. Ever heard of maternity leave? it’s there for a reason…time to recover and ATTACHMENT with your child. Gosh…clearly SHE doesn’t do psychology. Amy and Ricky…Amy should just tell him she’s scared because she’s worried she won’t live up to expectations and it’s gonna be something so big and dramatic…it should just be in the moment and yet still romantic.

Doctor Who…OMG…so i thought that the baby would be The Doctor’s but noooo…OMG…I CANNOT BELIEVE IT..well yeah i can it’s Doctor Who…okay so River Song is Amy and Rory’s child and The Doctor’s lover…haha. his GRIN…so cute. 😉 but Autumn…SUMMER JUST BEGAN. sigh.

Angry Boys: Chris Lilley is a complete GENIUS. i mean it’s not as good as Summer Heights High but it is still pretty awesome. but sometimes it can get a bit much.

So  I watched Cruel Intentions…woah…

1 Guy- Three Girls. haha.

okay so Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese Witherspoon…80s movie…yeah…DID NOT EXPECT THAT.

it was funny and kinda racy and everything (it is rated 15) but it was good…BUT THE END. i mean…REALLY?! yeah…sad times. but it was funny…after the incident…and damn Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character…what a BIATCH.

now…How To Deal starring Mandy Moore and Trent Ford…yeah the movie which combined Sarah Dessen’s two books Someone Like You (one of my FAVE Sarah Dessen books after Just Listen) and That Summer (my worst Sarah Dessen book…i don’t know…like there’s even a Meg Cabot book i hate *gasp* i KNOW…Avalon High…just never liked that book or the Disney Channel excuse of a film)

Now the reviews aren’t THAT GREAT but only if you LIKE Sarah Dessen or cute love stories THEN ONLY should you watch this movie because…i SMILED AND LAUGHED throughout the whole thing…but i was disappointed with the way they ended it but hey…it wasn’t REALLY THE BOOK so it’s all good.

One Fine Day- one of my favourite Romantic Comedies EVER! Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney.

i love the bit (2:15) where he picks her up and jumps around in the puddle. hehe. SO CUTE. =)

okay so if you love cats WHICH I DO you MUST watch this movie. It’s about cats. and they talk. and you might just find yourself…being attarcted to one…YEAH IT’S A CARTOON but hey I’m sure there’s some Disney guy you LIKE…*cough prince Naveen cough*

Haru in the Baron's House

So The Cat Returns is an amazing movie about this girl Haru (Anne Hathaway) who saves a cat’s life and he happens to be the Prince of the Kingdom of Cats so they send her gifts…but they’re all want a cat would want and so she goes to see the Baron for help but then she ends up in the Kingdom of Cats and she gets turned into a cat because she has to marry the Prince and she might have to say as a cat unless they can get out…but yes it’s really funny and so cute and just wonderful. i Loved Spirited Away but this is about CATS. =D

on the subjects of cats this might just be the cutest thing I’ve seen…

SO ADORABLE!!!!

So whenever i watch the news or read the news it just makes me so depressed and i can’t help but SIGH all the time…i mean…it’s better than ignorance but i feel so helpless and frustrated.

Oxfam has recently reported that in the next few years food prices are going to escalate and the people it’s going to affect the most are the POOR. obviously. it’s ALWAYS the poor who suffer the MOST.

Sigh…i mean Global Warming is taking its toll on everyone but it’s the POOR who are suffering the most. poverty causes diseases and a reduced quality of life and life expectancy. i understand that fishermen need to make a living but they can do that SUSTAINABLY without outsourcing species. I understand loggers and cattle ranchers need to put food on the table and have enough money to send their children to school BUT THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO THAT SUSTAINABLY. they should be able to WORK without COSTING THE ENVIRONMENT…because it’s just going to have a negative effect on everything…this whole ecosystem is perfectly balanced but as things are removed it becomes unstable.

I know that there aren’t equal opportunities everywhere and I’m so grateful to live the life that I’m living now but it’s down to people’s greed and power-hungry ambition which causes the problems. i mean we are all consumerist. Think about the ‘War on Drugs’ i mean…Mexico…i swear it’s a COMMON OCCURRENCE to be walking down to get some milk and you see 3 dead people in a ditch. Nothing unusual. IT’S THE NORM. WTF?! what kind of a world do we live in where seeing a dead person is NORMAL?! MASS GRAVES AND GANG VIOLENCE. it’s actually disgraceful…and repuslvie and we are feeding it. we are the reason for it. well not me personally since i don’t do drugs but there’s a reason why people DIE for drugs…because it’s ILLEGAL and there’s a massive demand for it.

What On Earth Is Going On?

Bonjour!!! =)

Okay so it’s been a while since I’ve posted but I have a valid reason: EXAMS.

Yeah…you can’t say anything to that.

So a lot has happened while I’ve been revising and writing EVIL exams.

First let’s talk about the EVILNESS of exams…evil in a BAD way…like you get Evil Geniuses and evil like Mojo jojo from the Power Puff Girl but then there’s just plain old EVIL like Hitler, Stalin, George Bush, Robert Mugabe, TNCs (Transnational corporations e.g Coca Cola). oh and of course the EXAMINERS- THE PEOPLE WHO WRITE THE EXAMS.

Yeah…they may not be EVIL people but they are evil in my eyes because they take pleasure in WRITING EXAMS and making the questions purposefully ambiguous to TRICK people. I bet they gleefully cackle when writing the questions. Hmph.

Anyhew…I was wondering whether it would be possible to sue the government if an ambulance made you deaf. then again i know that the frequency is designed not to make you deaf…but to make you HEAR IT. nonetheless I’m sure people commit suicide because they had a bad day and an ambulance goes past them with the siren screeching and then that is The Last Straw and they go home and die.

Or maybe it’s not THAT easy.

Okay so…Will and Kate are back from their honeymoon…I’m sure they had fun. 😉

Now Obama’ is in London Town…do I care?! not really?! why…because apparently the US and England are BEST BUDDIES in ruining people’s lives and just screwing up the world even more.  Great Time to be ALIVE. then again…the world has always been pretty screwed up since humans came into existence. I don’t blame God. I blame THE HUMAN RACE.

So I don’t know about you but i have better things to do then care about the rest of the world or the future so I’ll just make changes during my 4 yea time in office and let the next person pick up the pieces if there are any pieces unless we all get blown up into smithereens.

Oh it feels GOOD TO BE ALIVE WHEN SOME IDIOT SAID IT WAS THE END OF THE WORLD. it’s like…HA…in your FACE SUCKER…I’M ALIVE…maybe it was the end of the world for HIM…he should have died so as to prove a point. but alas…Americans and their cults.

So I was watching the news and damn…WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN SYRIA?! heck…what is going on in the WORLD?!

Over 1,000 people have been MURDERED and 10,000 ARRESTED in anti-government protests.

Sigh. People will never learn.

But that is just too idealistic. since time began people have been power-hungry and it just made them angrier and scarier and supposedly ‘great rulers’ or ruling through FEAR…

The protests continue against harsh dictators and idiots in power…and the US can’t talk about kicking Gaddafi out when helloooo…they MADE HIM…they gave him the weapons and supported him all those years. flip…i hate it…i hate how the US and the stupid war on terror…WTF are they on about?! they are also terrorising people!!!

So I’ve also been watching A LOT OF MOVIES. most recently:

Raising Arizona: 1987 with Nicolas Cage and Holly Hunter. Directed by the Coen Brothers it’s about this couple who can’t have kids so they steal one from this famous couple who have 5 kids. Nice. i know.

so it was alright…not AMAZINGLY HILARIOUSLY BRILLIANT. just alright.

I also watched Annie Hall. Woody Allen. yeah he’s all like…oh I’m gonna write a film about a neurotic in New York…oh and I might as well direct it while I’m at it…heck…I guess I should star in it myself. quite the egocentric.

Although I did watch Before Sunset…which s the SEQUEL to Before Sunrise- one of my FAVE romantic comedies EVER…and no it’s NOT a clichéd one..even though i admit I’m a sucker for a love story  but I believe you can learn from everything. 😉

I mean common sense ISN’T common after all. but I hate how intelligence is judged on…oh you went to university..EXCELLENT. some people don’t want to go to university or some people have never DARED to dream so big…because of what society has TOLD THEM…they’ll NEVER be good enough.

I’ve been reading a lot lately of course. Just read The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie and it’s semi-autobiographical which makes it even more…BRILLIANT. It has PICTURES…I haven’t read a book with pictures in AGES.

How true is this?! so many people push people away and that ruins relationships…sadly i lost a friend because she pushed me away when really ALL WE NEED IS LOVE…i was there for her if she wanted to talk but she always pushed me away so one day i just let her push me away- knowing i could never go back. Relationships are two-way streets- BOTH SIDES HAVE TO MAKE THE EFFORT IN ORDER FOR IT TO WORK.

This is true when it comes to culture or your cultural identity because as humans we WANT to belong…so either you stick to your own and ignore everyone else or you explore the world and your surroundings yet still manage to stick to your own morals and never lose your cultural identity. I think it really depends on the place you live in and your family as well because if they encourage you to embrace other cultures then you can be more open-minded but it’s down to the individual to stick to their beliefs while still ‘fitting in’ or feeling like they belong’.

I have to say…I AM A BOOK KISSER TOO…also a book hugger. I belong to the tribe of bookworms. AND I’M PROUD. =D

His grandma said that and apparently alcoholism is a huge problem amongst the Native Americans. Loads of people die from drunk driving or being shot over the last drop of drink. and they’re poor because the like to gamble and use what little money they have for alcohol. it’s a sad reality because alcohol is cheap for a reason…people buy it to drink their sorrows away and to numb themselves of all feeling but what’s the use in that?! what’s the point in being human at all if all you want to do is dull the pain…when EMOTIONS are part of us.

I’m not completely against drinking…sure have a drink…but in moderation. We all know that binge drinking leads to the deterioration of your liver. fun times. NOT.

I find alcoholics and drug addicts rather selfish because they want to hide their pain but they’re causing MORE pain for others…I mean they have families who LOVE them and people who give a damn about them yet they waste their lives away and their families have to watch them slowly kill themselves. it’s not that simple I know.

So this book is banned in some states in the US…as are many like The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. most reason is sexual content and racism as well as homosexuality. Books should NEVER be banned…maybe you should CONTROL what certain age groups read but never ever forbid a book…that’s just wrong.

I finally Finished The Best of Everything By Rona Jaffe- the one about the girls in the publishing industry in 1950s New York…it was wonderful!!! i should watch the movie. it’s probably not that good but still…i LOVED THE BOOK. the characters were so incredibly realistic and well-developed which made me get attached to them. i HATE letting go of characters. sad times. My english teachers are mean in telling me that these are fictional characters but hey IN MY HEAD IT’S ALL REAL. =P

I also finished Across the Universe by Beth Revis- WOW. such a brilliant concept about this new planet which is supposedly inhabitable and so there’s this ship that takes ou there and people are frozen from the 21st century and there’ll only be unfreezed once they land on the planet which they were told was in 302 years but ALAS tis not so…they have LIED to them…dan dan daaaa….

The society is all…FAKE and controlled…and the main problem is INCEST. gross they pretend this globe of light is the SUN…and there are fake stars…how disgusting when we know what the sun feels like is nothing compared to a globe of light.

So everyone is pretty much robotic or just clones…genetically modified with a few original thinkers…basically INDIVIDUALS but they are deemed as MAD so they take medication to avoid what’s in the water…it’s all so sick and disgusting but BRILLIANT.it’s more sci-fi then dystopian but who cares what genre it is it’s FANTASTIC. it’s a trilogy so i look forward to the next two books. i’m sure it’ll be optioned for  movie sooner or later.

I’ve been really bad lately and have been excessively buying books of Amazon…i’ve ordered Meg Cabot’s Abandon and Megan McCafferty’s Bumped as well as a few other books…i hope to get an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) of Sarah Dessen’s What Happened To Goodbye  from Spinebreakers but if not then i’ll just buy it.

Talking of Sarah Dessen i just read Last Chance (ak.a Keeping The Moon)- i hate it when they change titles depending on the country.

This book was AWESOME- i love how when they sang ‘I Will Survive’ it was just so…VIVID…like i could TOTALLY PICTURE IT…or maybe that’s just my incredibly imagination…but i do love Sarah Dessen…she’s a wonderful author and i hope to meet her someday. =)

Phineas and Ferb are EPIC. they are just the best. I cannot wait for their MOVIE. =D

Cougar Town is so awesome- always makes me laugh!!!

Doctor Who- i thought The Doctor’s Wife by Neil Gaiman was BRILLIANT. i was so happy for The Doctor…so cute and funny. but last week’s episode wasn’t so great…I’m not too fond of two part episodes.

Glee Finale– predictable but good- i’m glad Rachel and Finn are back together.i can’t believe they sang Friday at prom. I mean..HONESTLY…but they redeemed themselves with Dancing Queen but still…SHAMEFUL.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager– FINALLY A CONFRONTATION THAT WAS REAL…I loved all that raw emotion that just poured out. this isn’t going to end well but i don’t think they should get married so early and Ben is going to find it hard to live with Adrian and the baby…he’s always been so dependent on his father but he’s also had a rough yeah. though i hate how they just DECLARE THEIR LOVE FOR ANYONE…they’re still teenagers…the chances they’ll still be with that person in 10 years time- slim…but it IS possible.

Pretty Little Liars is back in June people! I am sick of not knowing who A is…it’s so damn creepy. I suppose i should have read the books before. i MEANT TO…just never got around to it since i prefer to BUY my books then borrow from the library.

oh and…THE HUNGER GAMES…yeah i’m obsessed but no it’s not like Twilight all over again. meh..that as just…a TERRIBLE PHASE.
