so this post is going to be ALL about baking madness.
so my favourite thing to bake is cupcakes because they are ADORABLE and decorating them is SO MUCH FUN.
but i also love baking other stuff like CAKE and i’m going to try and bake some cinnamon pretzels for my brother sometime soon.
so i’m just going to update you on what i’ve been baking since i have pictures from last year too.
i love baking but i can’t cook…i shall be learning this summer hopefully so when i’m in uni i can help my mum make dinner and stuff.
anyhew but baking is my passion…i tend to get my recipes from this amazing website:
or The Hummingbird Bakery recipe books
and the latest book with even more yummy recipes
now i am no expert baker that is why i have the help of Peeta Mellark…if you don’t know who he is and you’ve read my blog then SHAME ON YOU. he is a character in The Hunger Games…a baker boy. 😉
he’s also my fictional boyfriend and baking partner. =P
so for me i have to be a perfectionist when it comes to baking. i like everything to be precise and LOOK LIKE THE PICTURE otherwise it’s a fail. or i put my own twist on it and it looks BETTER THAN THE PICTURE. booyah.
so here’s just what i’ve been up to in the past 2 years baking wise.
so last year this time i baked a Chocolate Malt Cake for my then friend Hajra’s 17th bithday
and yes that IS edible gold glitter 😉
then was my brother’s 19th birthday so my mum and i (AND PEETA) baked Red Velvet Cupcakes
i learnt the trick that you break some crumbs off the cupcake and sprinkle it on top of the icing 😉
AND FOR MY BRO’S 20TH BIRTHDAY i asked him if he wanted: oreo brownies, chocolate mousse or a pie of his choice and he didn’t know so i’m just gonna bake some oreo brownies. and so i did
then it was Eid and i went crazy baking cupcakes galore
i simply HAD to bake oreo cupcakes and they were INCREDIBLE. but to get that white icing took some time. but it was worth it. =D and everyone enjoyed the cupcakes so YAY FOR CUPCAKES
then came my friend Fatimah’s 18th birthday and she’s obsessed with horror stuff so i tried to bake ghost cupcakes using marshmallow icing but everyone said they look like KKK cupcakes
my mum and i had fun trying to make them look like ghosts and the eyes are chocolate chip cookies. =D she loved them. 😉
then peeta and i decided to try some snickerdoodles for my friend Georgia’s 18th birthday- she loved them and didn’t want to share with her family because they were so delicious =D
note: no that is NOT the only tablecloth we have!
then came my friend Kavell’s 18th birthday and i decided to try chocolate peanut butter comfort cookies which turned out to be quite yum.
Peeta only helps baking when the people have read the books so at that time Kavell hadn’t read the books (she’s still reading Mockingjay) and Peeta hasn’t baked anything for certain friends because they HAVEN’T READ THE BOOKS. watching the film IS NOT THE SAME THING.
then my friend Maryuma’s 18th birthday i decided to bake a GIANT CUPCAKE
she has a big family so i’m sure they all enjoyed it.
then came Maddy and Tasmia’s birthdays and since it was around Easter time i thought i’d try the cupcakes on the back of the Cadbury’s Mini Eggs packet
pure chocolatey goodness since it was chocolate cake, flake for the nest and mini eggs. my friend who was doing Lent and gave up chocolate ate one anyway coz her rule was only chocolate bars…unacceptable.
then it was my dad’s 40th birthday and so my mum and i baked a triple pecan cake
oh it was heavenly
SEE WE CHANGED OUR TABLECLOTH lol yes we do like Cath Kidston
then i decided to bake something different and so naturally i chose WHOOPIE PIES
they look so cute and it’s so frustrating not being able to easily access certain American ingredients such as Marshmallow Fluff so i had to improvise. i just used marshmallow icing for the middle. it worked out just fine
i haven’t actually tried them but i will definitely bake them again sometime. PEETA HELPED THIS TIME. =P
next came Serena’s birthday and i decided to try baking cake pops again because i got a cake pop maker (but it’s so long)
yes everyone loved them. =D
next it was Mehnaz’s birthday and all she wanted was chocolate cupcakes but i had these glitter pens so i decided to make them look even better
then i discovered an OREO CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE RECIPE and i was like…it’s a cookie IN A COOKIE i have to make it. plus i’m in love with oreos so i did.
it was good for studying and so giant and filling
okay so that’s it for now. i plan to bake a pie soon and i’m going to try baking a rainbow cake one day
Happy Baking!!! it’s really fun and tastes delicious!!! if you do it right of course.
